Hundreds of players took part in the tournament with 64 teams from as far away as Sunraysia competing on the day.
Teams competed across the under-11, under-13, under-15 and under-17 age groups, with the games made up of two seven-minute halves.
EDNA president, life member and 15-and-under coach Betty McCoomb said the tournament was a great success.
“It was very successful, we were really lucky with beautiful weather and perfect conditions for netball,” McCoomb said.
“We had a great day, everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
“I saw a lot of locals that used to be part of EDNA or have had children come through our EDNA program and from around the region.
“We have regular teams that have been coming for years and it was great to see kids that have come many years ago in the under-11s and under-13s out there participating in the under-17s.”
McCoomb’s under-15s team finished second on the ladder and reached the semi finals, losing to Central Murray by just one goal.
“It was really close, it went backwards and forwards quite a lot,” McCoomb said.
“One goal is one turnover and in a short tournament it is really hard to catch that back up.
“We were chasing them from the word go. We were always trying to catch them and get even and then hoping to break their centre to be one goal up, but we couldn’t quite get that to happen.”
EDNA’s under-13 Blue side lost in the grand final after falling to Bendigo Strathdale 14-11 in overtime.
The EDNA under-13 Yellow team lost the reserve final to Picola 6-8, while under-13 Red finished fourth on the ladder.
The under-15 reserve final was won by Corowa Blue over Picola 11-8, with the EDNA Gold team finishing fourth on ladder.
EDNA’s under-17 team narrowly fell short of playing in the reserves grand final, missing out by percentage.
She said some local netball associations had been struggling for numbers and some have disbanded altogether, making it extra important to have the EDNA tournament each year.
"It’s something that we think as an association we need to keep having,“ McCoomb said
“It’s great for our players and our representative teams to have that chance to play on our home court.
“Tournaments are disappearing off the calendar and the fact that we can still be strong and hold one is good for our region.”
EDNA teams will take part in a tournament in Kyabram this weekend before competing at the Netball Victoria zones to hopefully reach the state championships.
