Shorty McNaughton was a shock winner of the Monthly Medal, sponsored by the GMCU, with a nett 55 off a 26 handicap. Travis Worm was runner-up in B-grade with a fine 64 which was still nine shots short of the winner. Ryan Lindsay won A-grade with 77-10-67 and Phil Panting was runner-up with 75-7-68.
NTP trophies went to Dale Clarke on the third hole (Lewis Homes sponsor), Jack Ballantyne on the sixth (Tatura Post Office), Shorty McNaughton on the 14th (A-1 Freight) and Michael Downs won the jackpot as well as the NTP on the ninth hole which is sponsored by Tatura Engineering.

Niki Miller had a fun day on Saturday, winning the women’s competition with 74 on countback and also winning NTP on the sixth and the 14th holes. Bev Roberts was runner-up with a 74, Jan Coe won a ball for her 78 on count-back while Bev Roberts and Jan Coe also won NTP trophies.
Summer pennant: Hill Top Red is top of the ladder after drawing 2.5-2.5 with Rushworth at Valley View on Sunday. Alex Bell-Matt Miller won 4-3 while Ray and Tim Nicholson won 2-1. Ty Guiney and Travis Worm halved their match but Brad Ciavarella and Hamish Roberts lost 7-6 and Bryan Miller-Jody Webber lost 2-1.
Hill Top Blue lost 3.5 to 1.5 to Shepparton at Hill Top and sits fifth on the ladder. Scott Perry-James Peck won 3-2 and Daniel Maher-Dan Miller drew their match. Jacob Chessels-Jono Kerrins lost -2, Anthony Hicks-John Dellar lost 2-1 while Dave Cornwall and Brad Deane were one down.
There is one round to play and then the winners of the two zones will play off at Mooroopna.
Midweek: Travis Worm won Tuesday’s stroke event with a round of 84-19-65 and Bob Hunter was runner-up with 84-16-68. Michael Downs won NTP and line-balls went to Ryan Lindsay 69, John Dickinson 71 and James Ibbotson 73 on a count-back.
John Dickinson won Thursday’s stableford competition with 40 points off a 20 handicap and Mick Mulcahy was runner-up with 38 off a nine handicap. Peter Hutton won NTP and consolation balls went to Ron Popple, Bob Hunter and Travis Worm 37.
Mat Langley Twilight: Dale Clarke was the best of the 28 starters on Thursday with Jody Webber half a shot behind on 31.5. Michael Mulcahy won nearest-the-pin.
Coming events: John Mapson will sponsor Saturday’s competition which is a medley multiplier Stableford (two players). Players play their own ball and score Stableford points on each hole. The partners then multiply their points scores together which is great unless one fails to score — in which case they score zero. Friendships can be tested.
GV Veterans will play at Numurkah on Monday, February 10.
