In an announcement, the hospital said: "Thank you to the Echuca Moama community for supporting this initiative. The asymptomatic clinic is now closed, after over 1000 people were voluntarily tested over the last 2 weeks.
"ERH will continue to follow the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services over the coming days, and will provide further update when information comes to hand.
"If you are currently displaying any symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, cough, cold, headache etc, routine testing via the COVID-19 clinic in the Emergency Department still applies.
"Thank you for all your support whilst we continue to care for our community during this challenging time."
All voluntary testing facilities were due to close on May 10 after a two-week blitz.
People presenting with symptoms will still be tested through ERH’s emergency department.
But the closure did cause some confusion on the back of the Victorian Government’s announcement that testing would continue.
Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos announced $20 million package for the next stage of managing the state’s response to the virus beyond the recent testing blitz.
“The testing blitz has helped us understand how the virus is moving through the community – these extra measures will ensure we continue to understand its movements and protect Victorians,” Ms Mikakos said.
“We have to stay vigilant until there is a vaccine, which is why we’re boosting our public health surveillance and response capacity, to keep Victorians safe as we move into the next phase of our pandemic response.”
