Mr Brooks said the "soft" approach of past leaders had been ineffective.
The Berrigan Irrigators Council has backed Mr Brooks in presenting the issues the region's farming sector have faced as a result of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
Since being elected as chair, Mr Brooks has been the gaining attention of a wide range of MPs and media.
“I am grateful for the support from BIC members and will continue doing everything in my power to bring some common-sense back to the issue of providing sufficient water for food production,” he said.
“To be flooding forests and pouring water out to sea, at the same time as my members are given a zero allocation which is forcing people off the land, is about as stupid as you can get.
“I will not sit back and let politicians like Water Minister David Littleproud and Environment Minister Sussan Ley get away with it.
“They need to acknowledge their precious basin plan is a failure and do something to fix it.
“They have to stop playing politics with people’s lives.”
Mr Brooks said he had received support from One Nation and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.
“There are cracks appearing between the Liberals and The Nationals, as people learn more about the basin plan and the huge damage it is doing to rural Australia.”
Mr Brooks is also chair of Southern Riverina Irrigators and hopes to be re-elected when its annual general meeting is held.
“The pressure on politicians has been building in recent months,” he said.“Our job now is to ensure it continues to build until they take action.”
The Berrigan Irrigators Council annual general meeting had more than 100 members attend at the Cobram Golf Club on Thursday, October 24.
Mr Brooks featured on the television program 60 Minutes on Sunday, October 27.
