Rejoice, Codference returns
Fishers will once again converge on Shepparton for the sixth annual Murray Codference on February 27.
The Codference has become a place for freshwater diehards to learn about the latest in fisheries management and ways to catch the iconic Murray cod.
One keynote speaker is two-time Mulwala Classic winner Thomas Pinter who will share a few secrets on lake fishing.
“Eildon cod whisperer” Kate Norman, Freshwater Fishing magazine editor Bill Classon and bait artist John Fyffe will also be speaking.
The free event will be held at Riverlinks Eastbank Conference Centre from 9am to 4pm.

No change to Murray system risk of spill
The need for further deductions from spillable water accounts in the Murray system means a low risk of spill declaration is not yet possible, the Northern Victoria resource manager said on February 10.
“Releases from Lake Hume to manage inflows occurred during January 2022, which means there will be deductions from spillable water accounts with the next seasonal determination update on February 15,” Mark Bailey said.
“A low risk of spill cannot be declared while this situation exists.
“The prospects of a low risk of spill declaration in March 2022 depend on the inflows to Lake Hume.
“Dry weather and demand for water during February 2022 would help create airspace and reduce the likelihood of further spills.”
The risk of spill in the Murray system in 2021-22 will be updated on Thursday, March 10.
