Tony is currently undergoing Immunotherapy treatment for stage four Melanoma; however, the disease is slowly progressing and not receding.
Tony was close to being announced eligible for a clinical trial before the COVID-19 pandemic caused the trials to be put on hold.
Tony’s only option for further treatment was to self-fund a treatment at a cost of around $70,000p/a.
After a GoFundMe page was set up to raise the funds for the treatment, a great number of people have donated with Tony providing an update and thank you to the community.
“Due to the extreme generosity of everyone who has kindly donated to my campaign, I was able to contact my Medical Oncologist and request that she organise the first three months of the Cobimetinib treatment,” Tony said.“We hope to commence this treatment in the days following my next staging scans, which are planned for mid-May.“No words can explain what this means to us...early last week we were of the belief that the only realistic option was to continue on my regime of Immunotherapy treatment and keep our fingers crossed that it along with recent Radiation treatment on my lung, would be enough to buy us some time.“We now not only have the opportunity to commence this new treatment but we feel as if we have an army of support and strength behind us, and that is a really good feeling.“Thank you all so very much and I will provide a further update once the treatment commences.”
As of 11am Tuesday, May 12 the GoFundMe total sat at $51,200.
