Overwhelming support from community for defence force and police personnel

The support given to Australian Police and Defence Force personnel at the Mulwala border checkpoint by the Yarrawonga Mulwala community has been described as overwhelming.

“They’re fantastic people. The world needs more of them,” Sergeant Brad Taylor from Sydney told the Yarrawonga Chronicle last Friday.

“They’ve kindly given us cakes, biscuits, firewood - it’s been overwhelming support.”

Despite some concerns with the new border permit, it has been a smooth transition into NSW according to Sergeant Taylor.

Sergeant Brad Taylor, ADF’s Mason Spierings and Senior Constable Debbie Chrystal appreciated the local donations of firewood to continuously keep the two fires burning throughout the whole day during this particularly cold winter.

“The traffic has moved well. We’ve appreciated everything, especially the firewood because it does get cold!” he said.
