AN ECHUCA man is behind bars after an alleged aggravated burglary and assault last week.

Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said the 44-year-old man broke into a house in Emily-Jane Rd in Wyuna last Tuesday afternoon.
"He forced his way in through a window and pushed the occupant out of the way and stole a chainsaw," he said.
The 41-year-old woman, who was known to the man, suffered minor injuries.
Luke Griffiths was arrested in Echuca on Saturday and charged with aggravated burglary, theft and unlawful assault.
He was remanded in custody to appear in Bendigo Magistrates Court on Monday, where he was further remanded to the same court on October 23.
