The book incorporates a brief history of the Douglas and Blyth families, their emigration to Australia and eventual settling on properties near Barham.
Mr Douglas described the book as being a story of early settlement of grandparents, parents, his very early days through to maturity, his marriage and the joy of his children, and later, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“I have reflected on my life, my joys, my sorrows, my achievements and failures,” Mr Douglas said.
“Mine is the story of great love of the land in all its vagaries, droughts and flooding rains, but always with an optimistic outlook to challenge adversity, and how we can do it better.”
The novel, which is in two parts, also covers the great tragedy of losing a loved one and the subsequent journey of re-discovering happiness.
