A family fun day to raise money for Deniliquin Meals on Wheels on Saturday was such a success, it is now set to become an annual event.

The fundraiser was the brainchild of Deniliquin RSL Bowling Club president Ken Wellard, and raised about $1000 for the vital service.
The club donated the use of its greens and facilities, with the service taking home the proceeds from the door and a raffle it held as part of the night.
Mr Wellard said the idea to host a family fun evening of social bowls for the group was coordinated after another successful donation in 2018.
He said the club donated $400 from money collected in the ‘bias tin’ and wanted to do more for the service ‘‘just for a good cause’’, but also joked club members might be using the service themselves sooner rather than later.
Deni RSL Bowling Club members invited locals and visitors alike to participate in the day, with assistance from local accommodation providers.
There were 50 registered bowlers who took part, some learning some new tips and techniques from club members who were on hand to offer some guidance. A number of children also attended.
A barbecue dinner was supplied, and the bar was open for guests to enjoy a few cold drinks during the evening.
Deniliquin Meals on Wheels, which provides nutritious meals and friendship to the local elderly and housebound residents, will celebrate its 52nd birthday later this year.
