The Talking Toff is rated as the best local hope by the bookies – a price of $7.50 at the time of writing – in the four-year-old’s first run for Donna Gaskin and Mick Cornish.
Cornish-Gaskin’s newest addition will contest the third race of the nine card meeting alongside Tayne Foster’s Amaze’em who has been rated an outside at $71.
Cornish said the gelding had shown positive signs after arriving at the stable on Wednesday.
“He’s a nice little horse and we’ve liked what we have seen so far,” he said.
“We’ve known the owner for a while and the horse was actually going to come to us after he had been broken it but the stable was full at the time.
“He had been with Jarrod Robinson in Bendigo and all the reports from there were promising as well.
“Brad Rawiller is going to jump back on board which we think is a really good sign.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how his first race plays out.”
Cornish-Gaskin also believes Madam Superior should perform strongly in the mare’s first race in almost 12 months.
The five-year-old makes a return to the track after an extended lay off following a broken pelvis which saw her sidelined for six months.
The $31 chance will feature in race eight.
“It’s great she is going to be able to get out for a run,” Cornish said.
“I’m expecting her to run a good forward race and I think she could surprise a few people.
“She has won both of her trials comfortably which has given us confidence to enter her in a race.”
Cornish-Gaskin could have up to four runners on the day with King of Design and Star of Man listed as emergencies for races two and five at the time of writing.
Gwenda Johnstone will have four runners on the day including two horses in the opening race on the card,
Stablemates Rock’n’Roll ($16) and Was Written ($13) will face off in the first.
Meanwhile, Bamaman and Dry Creek Road will run in races two and nine.
Dennis Oliver will be hopeful of spoiling the Johnstone party in the final race of the day with Jacks who is priced at $21.
Daryl Archard could potentially have two runners with Dente to feature in race six as Kaching as been listed as emergency for the seventh.
Michael Newton’s Manosphere is an emergency for the first.
Racing will get underway at 1pm.
