Even though it is early in the year, I am tipping Corey Kiel’s 48 stableford points will be hard to beat as score of the year. John Clohosey had a fine score to win A-grade with Sean Burns in second after his final putt on 18 sat on the edge of the hole.
It was close in B-grade with Ron Branch edging out Bill Ramsay and Tommy Green who have both found some form. Axyl Lewis hit a great shot on eight East to get to the pin at the back of the green.

Saturday, January 14
It was hot conditions for the monthly medal with James McLaurin breaking 80 off the stick to take the medal. Luke Keogh had the scratch score of the day with 76 and John Guilfoyle had the best scratch score in C-grade.
Matthew Sutton won the A-grade nett with Sam Davie and Tony Freeman winning the nett in B- and C-grades, respectively. Ian Raglus was a happy recipient of the super-pin.

Jan McGuinness won for the second Saturday in a row with a fantastic round of nett 66. Jan streeted the rest of the field and won the Saturday star award for January and nearest the pin as well.
Pam Heywood finished second after pipping Kate Burke, which was a great effort by Burke as she has not been playing a lot of late. Good to see her back. Dale Haw matched her husband's effort from a few weeks ago to win the super-pin.

The medley was well supported with 82 players, Guy Galvin and Lachlan Arkinstall scoring 39 stableford points to win in A- and B-grades, respectively.

Monday, January 16
Ros Pellegrino had the top score of 33 nett in the nine-hole competition to win B-grade and the first Stellar award for 2023. Diane Phillips was only one shot back to win A-grade with 34.

The 18-hole medley stroke event was won by Fletcher Kelly with 65 nett, from Matt Bell in second place on 66 and Marilyn Robins third with 68. Nearest the pin was James Brown.
Tuesday, January 17
David Borthwick won a countback over Luke Young to win A-grade with the consistent Mick Lizza in third. Jason Hoghton had the score of the day and a big win in B-grade and David Collins held off Geoff Smith for the major C-grade prize. Joop Flokstra won the super-pin on the fourth.

Gloria Bennett was the January monthly medal winner with nett 71 on a countback to her playing partner Deb Bawden. They took first and second place in A-grade by one shot from Josie Kirkman in third with 72. Lorraine Bowman was the B-grade winner with 72 on a countback to Deborah Quittner and making up the top three with 73 was Colleen Lynch. Karen Mose was a multiple winner on the day, taking three nearest the pins, including the super-pin.

Summer 4-ball pennant
On Friday at 5.30pm on the driving range there is practice for anyone who would like to play in the Summer 4Ball pennant teams. Information about the teams and competition is on the pro shop window. All welcome.
Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers Association
The Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers Association will start its 2023 program at Kyabram Parkland Golf Club on Monday, January 30 for a 4BBB event.
We start the day with an early assembly time of 8.30am to beat the potential heat of the day and to allow time for our short and efficient AGM at the conclusion of play.

GVVGA is an organisation that provides regular events for golfers over 55 years of age at a variety of district golf courses throughout the Goulburn Valley to promote fellowship among the members of all Goulburn Valley golf clubs.
GOLF Link registered players may complete their GVVGA membership application at any of our fixtures. Upon joining, members are issued a membership card that contains the calendar of events. You can also view the syllabus on the VVGA website under the district information pages. Our year runs January to December and the annual joining fee is $20.
Most of our fixtures are stableford events with a shotgun start. There is no pre-booking. Event registrations are processed at the venue with assembly usually at 9.30 am for a 10am start.
An entry fee of $20 for each competition, covers green fees, a light lunch (salad roll or catering decision of the host club), competition prizes in three grades, nearest the pin prizes and a generous number of raffle prizes, and “down the line” balls. Fourteen to 18 events are scheduled each year.
GVVGA is an incorporated entity, operating under a constitution, and affiliated with the Victorian Veteran Golfers Association. This affiliation provides members with public liability and professional indemnity insurance benefits and access to a number of state and national events.

Rich River Veterans
Forty men and 35 ladies played in warm conditions for the first round of the delayed 2022 Vets Championships held on January 13.
To be eligible for the Vets Championship a player must have played at least four games with Rich River Golf Club Veterans Association during 2022.
Judy Davey won the women’s competition with a brilliant 44 points, with second place going to Vicki Ramage on 42 points.
Deb Bawden won the A-grade NTP and Colleen Lynch B-grade.
In A-grade for the men, Graham Mose won with 38 points and Ken Ashworth was second with 36 points.
Len Drill won B-grade with 38 points and Robbie George was second with 36 points.
Jock Watson won the A-grade NTP and Tony Ciavarella B-grade.
The final round of the Vets Championship will be held on February 10 with a shotgun start at 8am.
