The winners had that presidential feel as Annie Haines, wife of club president Neil, and ladies president Denise Gilmore (s), starred on the day to bring home the chocolates.
On Tuesday evening, barefoot bowls attracted a field of 18 keen bowlers to play three-bowl pairs.
The Terry Westwood and Ray Brereton (s) combination ruled supreme in scoring two wins, +14 shots to win the prize money.
Westwood was excited with the win and proved that there may be more in store.
Runner-up honours went to Leon Laffy and Ian Staig (s), two wins, +8 shots ahead of Peter Egan and Ian Haines (s) with two wins, +3 shots.
Results in the Campaspe Area Pennant made for a mixed bag.
In the midweek competition our women failed against the might of the Moama Steamers losing 31-57. Rinks: Phylis MacFarlane lt K Connolly 12-36; Annette Brereton lt P Bell 19-21 in a close game.
All division three teams saluted in the weekend pennant match against Moama Steamers with a 71-37 demolition job. Rinks: Leanne McInnes def B Cuttriss 31-12; Graham Turner def K. Awty 17-14; Steve Pavone def B. Harper 23-11.
Division four lowered its colours to Deniliquin RSL 23-42 with both rinks down. Rinks: Dave Thomas lt B. Clancy 10-23; Neil Haines lt J. Jennings 13-19.
Division five travelled to Tongala and returned home with a 49-22 victory and both rinks in front. Rinks: Lloyd Buchanan def B. Ozols 24-8; John Whiteside def T. Booth 25-14.
With only one round remaining, division five might be struggling to make the finals as it is 18 points shy of fourth place.
All three divisions are playing at home for the final round of the pennant on Saturday and there is a pizza tea after bowls at about 6pm. Names are to be listed for catering purposes.
In the club competitions, Brian Kinnane defeated Rhayne Dennis in the first round of the B-grade championship. Lloyd Buchanan also defeated John Whiteside in a memorable game of bowls.
In the 100-up championship, John Dowie proved too strong for Rhayne Dennis, while Steve Pavone made a surprising comeback to defeat Dave Thomas with the final bowl to win 100-98.
The 21-up Presidents Trophy games highlighted Ray Hanson defeating Lloyd Buchanan.
At the 60-and-over competition at Rochester on Wednesday, Dave Thomas skipped the rink of Graeme Wood and Ian Staig to victory and carried home the “Chooks” after a wonderful display of bowls.
The club is holding the mixed pairs tournament on Sunday at 1pm.

In third was Allan Linquist and David Linquist with two wins, 52 points.
With the jackpot at $60, Radford/Guille and Wood successfully drew their first bowls within the meter stick to take out the jackpot, which restarts again at $50.
Wednesday, January 25:
Hugh Davies, returning after several months, and Colin Tucker were winners being the only three game winners, while runners-up were Gerry Devlin and Guille with 53 points. Third was Allan and David Linquist with 52 points.
With the jackpot at $50, Davies and Tucker were unsuccessful.
Mathoura
In midweek pennant, division one and two had wins to keep us in the hunt to play finals.
Weekend pennant saw division one had an exciting come-from-behind win, while division two won, division three lost, and division four also tasted defeat.
Rochester
This year’s winners of the Clive Usher Drawn Triples on January 31, with two wins and a draw (12 points) were Brian Godden, Allan Crilly and Graham Willis.
Runners-up, with two wins and a draw (five points) were Bill Anderson, Mick Ellis and Rob Dennis.
On Wednesday, February 1 the 60+ Over event at Rochester attracted 30 teams on 15 rinks, with only one three-game winner.
Players were playing for the Bill Jackson Shield, which was won by Stan Limbrick’s team from Mathoura with lead R. Dunwoodie, second B. Brander and third S. O’Callaghan.
The runners-up with two wins and a draw were Lockington’s three-man team of G. Hyden, G. Wood and D. Thomas.
All these players received the usual dead chook.
Today (February 8) will be at Lockington at 10am.

The winners on 42 points were Denise Lee (skip), Matthew Leahy (third), Marg McFadzean (second), and Lyn Prott (lead).
