Show secretary Maxine Weigand said stalls were usually set up at the show, but they wanted to be able to offer more this year and draw in a wider crowd.
“We thought we’d put a call out to the wider community to try and get them involved,” Maxine said.
The committee is open to nearly every type of stall, whether it be a market or trade stall.
They are even open to community groups and organisations setting themselves up and providing information about their services.
The only requirement is that the stall complements everything else on offer at the show.
A tie-dye clothing stall, soap and perfumery stall, sensory and fidget toy stall and a portrait caricature artist have already signed up for the event.
Sponsors of the event such as Coliban Water and Bendigo Health will also be establishing themselves at the show.
Maxine said the feedback they had received about this year’s event had been overwhelmingly positive.
Food vans, a car display, fireworks display, aerobatic plane display, LEGO competition, petting zoo, face-painting and a photography contest will be on offer, as well as dairy cattle, dog, poultry, goat and beef cattle exhibits.
“People have been saying they are really excited for this year,” Maxine said.
“This is the first time the event has been free and that was because we were able to source grants. We really wanted to give back to the community after everything the community has been through with the floods.
“We hope the decision to make the event free will appeal to a wider demographic.”
The Great Northern Show will commence on Friday, February 24 from 5pm until late, with the night concluding with fireworks.
Then it will all start up again on Saturday, February 25 from 9am.
