The 75-target event was shot over two rounds, with those in attendance shooting their first round of 37 targets, followed by the second round of 38 targets, with the extra target required being added to the sequence on station 1.
The course was designed and set by Daryl Scott, along with a handful of members who regularly and kindly volunteer their time to make our days so successful.
W.B Hunters from Echuca was our very generous sponsor for April, and we truly appreciate their ongoing support of our club.
All winners on the day thanked W.B Hunters for their sponsorship, as our great prizes are made possible by those who support us.
Shooters were treated to a great variety of targets over the nine stations, including a super midi (or as it more commonly known, a ‘bee’ target) being thrown on the first station along with an standard overhead target.
Station two consisted of a rabbit target which rolls along the ground, with a quick outgoing target added to the sequence making sure shooters were moving their guns to be able to hit it.
Skip forward a few stations and an incoming battue target was held up beautifully by the slight breeze during the day, ensuring all shooters had a good view of it when they took to the shooting stand for their turn.
Towards the end of shooting the skies opened up with a little bit of drizzle, but this could not dampen the spirits of those in the later squads who were still shooting, with all feedback received being positive about the day.
Life member Tim Finnegan shot the best score on the day, winning high gun with a score of 67 out of 75.
Club president Ricky Keirl was just one target behind him, winning AA grade with 66/75.
Ballarat’s Paul McIntosh was A grade’s winner shooting 65/75, with Hayden Holt from Pinegrove taking the win in B grade with 52/75.
James Empey from Kilmore made the drive worthwhile as he was awarded the winner of C grade after shooting 50 out of 75.
Echuca Moama members featured heavily, with locals winning ladies, veterans and juniors.
Emma Keirl shot 56/75 to win the ladies, Roger Kerslake won veterans with a score of 57 out of 75, and young Jordon Smith was the juniors winner after shooting 51 of the 75 targets presented to him. Sub juniors was taken out by Kilmore’s Taylor Cole also shooting a score of 51.
The club’s next shoot is a 75 target handicap event on Sunday, May 19 which will begin at 10am. Riverina Canvas from Echuca is the day’s sponsor and we are extremely grateful for Roger’s ongoing support.
