Arty-FactHow did the Earth get its name: Earth is the only planet not named after a Greek or Roman god or goddess.
In fact, its name is a combination of English eor(th)e/ertha, and German (erde) words, both meaning 'ground'. The creator of the name is unknown.
Interestingly, if you take art out of Earth, it’s just 'eh’, so perhaps the creator was an artist.
