With showers forecast last Wednesday, players were fortunate to get through nine holes off a shortened course and without interruption for a Stableford event over the back nine.
Chris Eeles and Peter Anderson were the only players to score better than their handicap, both on 22 Stableford points, although Anderson had two birdies in a row.
Eeles’ long driving saw him paring the last three holes to win on a countback, Anderson was nearest for his close shot on 12.
David Gebbie had his best score this year with a fine 37 points to win, while Chris Eeles, captain Darren White, new golfer Shane Connelly, Robert Vise and president Leigh Hicks were next best on 35.
White kept up his lucky countback record to run second. Eeles' solid driving saw him win balls for his shots to James Walsh (Drummonds) 9th and Rochester Bakeries 10th nearest to the line. Connelly was nearest for his nice shot to the long par three on the third.
Rochester's combined Golf Central Victoria pennant side had a great win over Neangar Park Golf played at Belvoir Park south of Bendigo last Sunday, winning 4 and 1; Colin Johnson (one up), Di Johnson (2/1), Bruce Bryant (2/1) and Karen Taylor (3/1), team captain Lachie Wilson lost on the 17th.
