SAM Henson may be a little shy with a microphone in his face, but he lit up when he was told he had won the tickets in the Riverine Herald’s Monster Energy Aus-X Open competition.
Just as he lights up behind the handlebars of his Honda 50cc, where he’s as right as rain.
Posing for a picture in his Supercross best, the sevenyear-old has loved riding for almost as long as he can remember.
“I started riding when I was three, four or five,” Sam said.
He may be young, but he already has some impressive skills under his belt. “I can do a tail-whip,” he said.
“It’s when you lean across, and the back part of the bike comes out to the side.” Sam said he can’t wait to get to Marvel Stadium in Melbourne to see his idol, Chad Reed, tear it up on the dirt. A
lthough he’s still unsure who gets his other ticket on the big night.
“Maybe mum or dad,” he said.
“We might just have to get tickets for everyone,” mum Sharon laughed.
Sam hopes one day to be just like Chad, riding a Suzuki in the big leagues.
