The men were last seen on October 20 in a 24-point loss to Bendigo as their season dropped to 1-2, while the Lady Pirates picked up an 18-point win on the road in Swan Hill on October 25.
On Saturday night, both will return to the court at Maryborough.
Following the win against Swan Hill, Lady Pirates coach Lisa Baker admitted there were some physical concerns with her side.
“We definitely had a few sore bodies after the game,” she said.
“It was good for them to have a bit of time off after the clash, but we would have preferred for the break not to have been so long. It's tough spending this much time off the court.”
When the sides last met at Echuca Stadium, the Pirates were blown out of the water in a 32-point loss, with Baker saying work needed to be done on their defensive end.
“Maryborough were able to score really well during the game,” she said.
“We are going to have to step up our defensive end this week if we are going to get the job done. We've worked on our shooting and on getting into the right mindset for this game as well.”
The men's side have not yet faced the Blazers - who sit second on the table at 5-0 - and that presents its own challenges for coach Leo Tenace.
“It's always a hard task going down to their court,” he said.
“But we know what we are going to have to do well to beat them. We've focused on a few areas in our offense we need to get right - getting boards and making our second chance shots - and getting our basics right on the other end with our closeouts.
“They're simple things we can fix to hopefully get us in a good position.”
The Pirates have had a bumpy start to the season so far, with Tenace joking the break was much needed.
“I guess we get a fresh start now,” he laughed.
“We know what we have to do to be back playing our best basketball as the season continues.”
