Mr O’Bryan, a former police investigator with 27 years’ experience in the force, spoke of his motivation in writing the book.
“I chose to write the book as I saw it as the only way I could make my own inquiries,” Mr O’Bryan said.
“It gave me legitimacy to question people.
“I simply hoped to obtain new evidence which would lead to the identity of a clear suspect, and I believe I have achieved this.”
Mr O’Bryan spent three years writing the 285-page book, which has the blessing of the Fraser family.
“I interviewed more than 100 people and discovered new and compelling evidence,” he said.
“I met with Krystal’s parents (Karen and Neil), and her sister Chantel, who had done some of her own investigations, assisted me with the book.
“The life of Krystal was short, but she was lonely and wanted to be loved.
“No-one should forget her, and I would like the case solved for the sake of her family.”
Ms Fraser was nine months’ pregnant with her first child when she disappeared from Pyramid Hill on June 20, 2009.
It became a homicide case in August 2009 and despite an extensive investigation, nobody has been charged over the matter.
A coronial inquest in October 2022 determined Ms Fraser was murdered and the potential father of her child was likely involved in her death.
Her body has never been found.
Mr O’Bryan said the book was finalised following the inquest phase and was published by Sid Harta Books & Print.
“I had written the first draft and then spoke to a ‘real author’, who said put yourself in the book, so that required a second draft,” he said.
“Then during the inquest phase, I added additional information based on evidence that was presented there.”
Last Train Home: The Disappearance of Krystal Fraser is available at Collins Booksellers, Echuca for $29.95.
