The Waste in Campaspe – Know, Educate, Do survey will help the shire gain data as part of its waste education program.
Shire community general manager Keith Oberin said it was essential for planning around waste in the community to get as much feedback from the community as possible.
“The survey will provide valuable information on residents’ knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in relation to waste and recycling practices in Campaspe,” Mr Oberin said.
“The survey results will help guide the direction of the WickED program including the information and activities developed for the next 12 months.
“It is pleasing to note that over time results from the previous surveys have shown a considerable shift in residents’ attitudes and behaviour towards waste reduction and the health of the environment.”
Recent surveys have shown people within the community have become more environmentally friendly in the past eight years, with a 30 per cent increase in the number of respondents who use their own bags when shopping since 2017.
It also shows 60 per cent of respondents will recycle even if it requires extra effort.
And if you need some extra incentive, prizes including an Apple iPad, raised garden bed and vouchers for local businesses could be won for simply taking part in the survey.
The WickED survey is open to all Campaspe Shire residents, groups, businesses, and schools, and can be accessed via council’s website under the ‘Open for comment’ section.
The online survey closes Monday, May 31.
