Rockets take centre stage on home turf

The Rockets battled against teams from Albury-Wodonga, Shepparton and Merriwa, and not even wet weather could dent their spirits as the once-a-year home game arrived.

“It went really well,” Rockets coach Graeme Glanville said.

“As always, everyone pitches in and makes it happen.

“That’s what the objective is, get everyone smiling, get their hands on the ball and have a bit of fun.”

The Rockets faced GV Stars, Wodonga, North Albury and Merriwa in a four-game round-robin format, with the result of those games the farthest thing from anyone’s minds.

For Glanville, now into his fifth year coaching the team, seeing his players put their best foot forward is a rewarding experience.

“It’s all about having fun, not so much whether we win or lose,” Glanville said.

“That’s the main thing. As long as they’re out there having a kick and getting a hold of the football, that gets a smile on the face which is all that matters.”

Earlier in the season, the Rockets also had the opportunity to showcase their skills at half-time of the round six Murray Football League clash between Echuca United and Numurkah, as well as take part in training with the Eagles’ senior squad.

Echuca Moama is back in action on Sunday, June 18, at Central Park Reserve in Shepparton for round three of the FIDA season.
