Local motorsport competitors showed their love for the rush when they travelled to the Northern Territory to compete in the Finke Desert Race on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
Across a two-day period participants rode back and forth from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community, where they faced treacherous off-road conditions including red dirt, sand and desert oaks.
Echuca’s Sam Davie was the best overall performer finishing the race in sixth place, which resulted in a fourth place finish in the 451cc and above four-stroke class.
Craig Spiers from Torrumbarry was the only local to take home their respective category after claiming the quads 40 or older competition.
Darcy Regan also earned a top 10 finish after finishing eight in the 251cc and above two-stroke category.
