A team consisting of six dedicated, capable long-distance runners from Mathoura Public School recently took to the bush track in Gundagai, participating in the Riverina PSSA Cross Country event.
In cold conditions, the strong squad of runners representing Deniliquin and district displayed determination and talent, achieving impressive results, including a podium finish.
Sophie Eddy (8/9 girls) was the strongest runner from the Riverina in her age group, finishing first as age champion of her event.
Khoa Unwin (10 years girls) and Katelyn Eddy (11 years girls) both finished their events in fifth place.
All three girls have now qualified to compete in the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships to be held in Sydney on July 21.
Teammates Georgie Taylor, Bindi Taylor and Chanze Egan also ran excellent races, with Bindi placing 11th in her event, and Georgie and Chanze ending midfield in their events.
Mathoura Public School wishes Sophie, Khoa and Katelyn all the very best.
