Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong, does.
Co-directors Tricia Deakin and Lesley Robins are looking forward to bringing their fourth play together to the stage.
“We really enjoy directing comedies as people can come and enjoy a show while having a few laughs,” Tricia said.
“The cast members are really building their characters now and we are having so much fun together at rehearsals.”
The cast includes Kate Griffin as director Gerry Dunbar, Honni Goulding as stage manager Aggie Manville, Ivy Jensen as sound/lighting/set design technician Louise Peary and Francie Finn as playwright Phyllis Montague.
Suzanne Spencer plays Polly Benish who also stars as Lady Margaret in Murder Most Foul, Pete Gibson as Henry Benish (Lord Dudley in the play), Samuel Kelly as Saul Watson (Doctor Rex Forbes), Ben Harris as Billy Carewe (Stephen Sellers), Lauren Douglas as Violet Imbry (Diana Lassister) and Ella Goulding as Marla ‘Smitty’ Smith (Doris the maid).
Five performances of Play On! will be held at Echuca’s The Foundry Arts Space in Murray Esplanade from August 17-20.
Venue seating will be cabaret-style with tables of six or 10 and patrons are invited to bring their own nibbles and drinks.
