Jamie Scapin, who had 25 goals from five games in the Kyabram District League reserves grade before he was promoted to senior duties, kicked five majors at the weekend against Tallygaroopna.
He now has 19 games from six goals at the top level and, with Jack Donnell (six goals), was the major contributor to the 17.14 (116) to 4.7 (31) result.
Donnell kicked four goals a week ago against Avenel and now has 18 goals from 11 games with the Wombats.
Lancaster booted nine goals to three in the opening half and eight goals to one after the long break, with Tally managing just one behind in the final term.
The Wombats extended a three-quarter time lead of 52 to 85 points by the final siren.
The Wombats’ defensive ability has it in good stead if either Nagambie or Murchison-Toolamba slip up in the final three home-and-away games.
While sitting third on the ladder, the reigning premier has a superior percentage to both the top-ranked Lakers and the Grasshoppers, who are second.
Lancaster (294.67 per cent) has allowed just 488 points against it this season, which is 100 points less than the teams above it on the ladder.
The Wombats’ attacking return is second only to the prolific Lakers, who lost to Lancaster only a matter of weeks ago.
Lancaster’s final three opponents of the season are Longwood, now fourth-placed Shepparton East and Stanhope.
Nagambie (256.83 per cent) is drawn to play Stanhope, Murchison-Toolamba and Avenel.
Murchison-Toolamba (245.64) has Dookie United this weekend, then Nagambie and finally Girgarre as it looks to go one better than last year’s losing grand final result.
Lancaster was without its most productive forward, for the limited amount of games he has played anyway, Jake Mills on Saturday.
Cameron Simpson was also missing from the team, along with Kyle Kidd and Ricky Thomson.
• Lancaster continued its domination of the reserve grade competition, kicking 23 goals against Tallygaroopna and taking a 130-point win.
Captain Steve Grima ticked past the half-century goals kicked for the season with six and kept his record of kicking multiple goals in every one of his 10 games this year in tact.
Steve Phillips kicked five goals, giving him 26 from 12 games for the year, while Michael Orr added to his season tally with four majors.
In the past three weeks he has kicked 23 goals against Undera, Avenel and Tallygaroopna.
