But Phillips wasn’t far out of the reckoning, finishing runner-up by two votes in yet another strong season for the Cats champion.
Leitchville-Gunbower’s Jobee Warde also earned plaudits on the night, placing equal-fourth after another consistent year.
The future of LBU netball also looks to be in safe hands if the vote count last Wednesday is any indication.
The Cats had two league medal winners on the night with Cadence Major and Taya Tamblin both taking out top honours in their respective grades.
Major capped off an excellent year in the under-15 competition with a thrilling one-vote win, polling a vote in the last round to take her tally to 27 for the season.
It is her second straight league accolade after picking up the under-13 gong last year.
In the under-13 count, it was an LBU and Leitchville-Gunbower one-two.
Cats star Tamblin polled 30 votes after a stellar season on the courts, five ahead of runner-up Sadie Jones from the Bombers.
Tamblin has played a key part in her side’s path to the HDNL grand final, which is set to be played on September 16.
For Jones and her Bombers, a grand final berth will be on the line when they take part in this week’s preliminary final.
