The festival drew more than 350 students from six primary schools — St Mary’s (Echuca), St Joseph’s (Kerang), St Patrick’s (Pyramid Hill), St Mary’s (Cohuna), St Joseph’s (Rochester) and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (Elmore).
The students, who ranged in age levels from Prep through to Year 6, performed a series of songs for the community as part of the annual festival.

St Mary’s Year 5 student Sophie was up for the opportunity to shine.
“It’s very exciting because I haven’t been part of a small group before. I haven’t had to do a solo performance,” Sophie said.
“I’ve been part of a group that has had 10 people. I wasn’t the youngest or the oldest, I was in the middle.
“I’m very excited and thankful that the Year 5 and 6 students get to do this. An event like this allows the students to step outside their comfort zone.
“I’m just really grateful that I could experience this opportunity. When I go into Year 6, it will be a lot different. I’ll be better prepared for a similar event when I’m older.”
Despite her young age, the songstress has loved singing since childhood.
“When I was five or six years old, I would put on shows in the lounge room in front of my sister,” she said.
Another one soaking up the occasion was St Joseph’s Rochester Year 5 student Seth.
“I’ve asked the staff if we are doing well and the teachers have said that we are doing great,” Seth said.
“Sometimes we just rehearse at the end of the day, for about half an hour or so.
“We practice the different songs twice weekly, and all become good at it.”

Seth was asked what else he enjoys doing outside of school.
“I love playing football with the Rochester Tigers and riding my bike,” he said.
