Upgraded Wallan Tennis Centre opens to meet growing demand

The project came about after a recent Sport and Recreation Victoria grant project that installed competition-standard lighting on some of the courts.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Fiona Stevens said it was evident the demand for use was extensive and increasing.

“The now-upgraded facility enhances the playing experience and also ensures that our growing population have better access to recreational activities,” she said.

The project saw major base works to fix the significant depression that ran across courts one to four and caused an uneven playing surface.

Wallan Tennis Centre currently has six courts with lights, which are used for various activities.

The centre plans to do more work to help meet the growing demand in the south of the shire.
