Playing at Victoria Park in Echuca on Friday night, Echuca was sent in to bat first in the T20 and made a great start through Gillian Noelker and Sophie Douglas, who made 15 and 16 respectively before both retiring not out.
Grace Riddell top scored with 26 not out from her 30 balls for the home side, while Chloe Moyle made 22 not out before retiring.
Jessica Cox (10 not out) and Maisy Byrne (2 not out) provided late cameos to steer Echuca to a competitive 0-108 from the 20 overs.
Kyabram’s chase started disastrously as Jessica Cox (2-3) struck twice in the early stages, removing Tori Walsh (1) and Melissa Parsons (0) to have the Redbacks reeling at 2-4.
Breanna Baker (20) combined with Penny Mason to steady the ship for the visitors; however Olivia Davy (1-6) struck, removing Baker and reducing Kyabram to 3-42, inciting a collapse of 7-24 as Echuca restricted the opposition to 9-83 off 20 overs.
Echuca White was overpowered by Shepparton Youth Club United at Victoria Park on Sunday morning, falling 15 runs short of the required score.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Shepparton Youth Club scored 5-104 courtesy of Mel Saunders’ knock of 20, while Stephanie Simmonds (15 not out) and Lora Owen (14) also chipped in.
Mia Arthurson was the pick of the Echuca bowlers, taking 2-13.
The Echuca chase was led by Amy Cooper, who top scored with 13, and Jessica Cox (11); however the Shepparton trio of Rebecca Laino (2-7), Dianne Poole (2-10) and Mel Saunders (2-12) ensured the home side’s efforts fell short, reaching only 6-89 off 20 overs.
Rochester did well to restrict Nathalia to 5-89 but fell 20 runs short of victory at Nathalia Showgrounds.
Evie Hawk (18 not out) and Cody Power (17) did the damage with the bat for the home side, while Rochester’s Sadie Martin claimed 2-11 as the best of the bowlers.
Martin was Rochester’s best with the bat also, making 14.
Abby Favaro (2-8) bowled well to hand Nathalia the victory.
Bamawm-Lockington United was valiant in its effort against the undefeated Nagambie, but ultimately fell 28 runs short at Nagambie Recreation Reserve.
Nagambie captain Kait Carracher smashed 34 off 30 deliveries to set her side up with a competitive total of 4-106, with BLU bowler Daneika Hucker taking 2-29.
Amy Fitzgerald did all she could with the bat for BLU, smacking 45 off 51 deliveries to top score for her side, but she ran out of time and partners as Carracher and Alicia Nicol both took 2-3 to power Nagambie to victory.
The undefeated Mooroopna continued its winning ways at Katamatite Recreation Reserve, cruising to a 35-run win over the Katty Tigers.
The Cats were led by Gemma Boyd, who made 34 off 19 to help her side post 5-115, as Lauren Sneddon took 2-10 for the home side.
Katamatite’s Katrina Chapman made 31 in the chase, although Boyd (2-3) and Bella Woods (2-5) ensured Mooroopna continued its unblemished start to the season.
