Several local students have been acknowledged for their exceptional sporting skills.

Teachers, parents, and students gathered at the Wagga RSL for the Riverina School Sports Association’s Riverina Blue Awards’ annual presentation lunch.
Riverina Sporting Blues are awarded to Riverina representatives who have:
• Represented Riverina in the nominated sport within the current year (exceptions may occur where the sports state carnival is held after the closing date of nominations).
• Gained selection in a state or national schools team.
• Won an individual event at the NSW Combined High Schools or NSW Primary Schools Sports Association Championship or gained a first, second or third place in an individual event at a national schools event.
• Satisfied their manager/convener, school and Riverina Blue committee that they are of a suitable standard in ability, commitment, dress, behaviour and attitude to be awarded a Riverina ‘Blue’.
• Through their efforts been a suitable role model for other Riverina students.
Five sports starts representing the Southern Riverina region received their Roverina Blue certificate.
Sienna and Jasmine Burke from Finley High School were awarded for their performance in the NSW Combined High Schools Squash Championships.
Murrumbidgee Regional High School’s Nicole Taylor was recognised for her exceptional swimming skills in the NSW Combined High Schools Swimming Championships.
She received a Riverina Merit Citation.
Jordan Swann of Berrigan Public School and Harvey Pound of Coleambally Public School were both recognised for their performance in the NSW PSSA Australian Football Championships.
All students received a trophy and a certificate, and their names were added to the Riverina School Sports Association’s plaque for their respective sports.
Attendees at the awards presentation were joined by Riverina local and rugby League star Rachael Pearson.
As guest speaker, she shared stories of her young sporting career.
