Former junior Eagle Brady Simpson has made the move back to United, following a successful stint with Echuca in the Goulburn Valley League.
Having moved to the Murray Bombers at the beginning of 2020, Simpson developed into a reliable defender at Echuca, earning an under-18 league best-and-fairest in 2021, before playing 29 senior games across the 2022-2023 premiership seasons.
Simpson was unlucky not to feature in either senior grand final success, especially this year, having played in 18 senior games including the semi-final against Kyabram, although was named among the best in the reserves triumph in 2022.
Although still young, Simpson brings plenty of experience back to United, and will no doubt play a prominent role on-field next season.
Shaun Haffenden has also been announced as a new recruit for the Eagles, joining the club from Golden Rivers league outfit Macorna, and will help to add some physicality to the young United midfield.
The signings come just weeks after the shock sacking of coach Farran Priest, who had been in charge for the past two seasons, with 2013 senior premiership coach Beattie stepping in to take the reins.
The club will be hoping the new recruits can help it make a leap back up the ladder in 2024, following returns of three and six wins in the past two seasons respectively.
