The event was first run last year and after so much positive feedback, the organisation wanted to bring it back again, according to the manager of the Moama and Mathoura outdoor pools Olivia Fraser.
“This is our second year at Moama, and we had a great turnout last year,” she said.
“We had just over 200 people through the gate, so we’re hoping that this year will be even bigger and better, and we can keep running it for years to come.”
Ms Fraser said she hopes this encourages more people to utilise the local pools during the summer.
“We’ve noticed that there’s not many community events that are on for the younger children, so we sort of just want to get them back out into the community, back outside and doing things during the school holidays,” she said.
“We did this event last year and found that we just had a lot more involvement in our community pools, and a lot of people bought memberships, and it actually got kids interested in the pools again.”
The pool will open during the regular 1pm-6pm hours with the addition of the giant pool inflatable for added fun.
A friendly game of backyard cricket will also be on offer for those who want a break from the water. Finally, to complete a great day out, there is a $2 sausage sizzle for lunch.
If they wish, people are also invited to bring a picnic rug and their lunch to make the most out of the day.
Ms Fraser said it was great to be part of creating these community events for everyone.
“It feels really good just because of the feedback we get, and how we can give back to the community, she said.
“There’s a lot of events that happen in Echuca, so it’s nice to sort of bring the two communities together a little bit and have something in Moama.”
