Unfortunately we lost a couple of teams from last season, but we do welcome a few new players which is great to see.
Any players, or indeed venues, wanting to join up will be made very welcome.
We start the year with a pretty impressive depth of strength with current Australian representative Michael Cassar joining the Falcon Hotel’s Double Trouble to play alongside his mother Janine, who is a Victorian State representative player.
We have former state player and 2022 Australian Doubles winner Michael Bajowski playing with another Australian representative in Joanne Hadley in the Misfits, and we have last year’s first reserve for the Victorian state team Dylan Oaff playing with Projectile Dysfunction.
Along with a couple of local legends, Darren Manners and Max Crilly, we could certainly give other leagues a bit of a shake-up in an interleague challenge.
Bendigo has put out feelers to see if the EMDA is interested in a friendly match.
Anyone interested should get in touch with Shane Broucek via Messenger.
Round 1 report
First division results saw Misfits trounce Echuca Hotel’s The Shoeless 11-0, although admittedly it was Shoeless’ first game in division one since being relegated.
Lockington Hotel’s Projectile Dysfunction had a narrow 6-5 win over the Falcon’s Double Trouble, and finally the Pastoral’s P*ssheads’got to an early 6-3 lead over the Falcon Hasbeens, who came back strong to finish 6-5.
In second division, Pastoral Warriors escaped with a 6-5 win over Pastoral Pirates, Pastoral’s Passouts did well over Tonny Terrors 7-4, and Pastoral’s Ocheholics had the bye.
Players who did well were Michael Bajowski, who threw 2 x 180s among his 13 tons, Shane Mensforth threw 11 tons, while Alex Oakley, Dylan Oaff, Joanne Hadley and Michaels Cassar all threw 9 each.
The highest peg of the night went to Dave Clark with an impressive 120.
Other 100-plus finishes went to Keith Jones (116), Darren Manners (115), Alan Bryson (101) and Max Crilly (100).
Top pegs for the ladies went to Janine Cassar with 86 and Amon Sinnott with 82.
Michael Bajowski had the shortest leg with 17 darts, Alex Oakley and Max Crilly 18, and Dylan Oaff followed up with 19.
The best lady was Janine Cassar with a 21-dart game.
Mighty stuff from all.
Pastoral Inn Hotel Motel Premier League
We’ll be starting up the Monday night league again shortly.
Any players interested in playing should contact Gary Sinnott on 0429 943 450 or email emdartscd@gmail.com as soon as possible.
Limited spaces will be available.
It’s proposed to play a different format this year, however, this will depend on the number of entries we get.
Ideally we would get 24 starters, although this could be extended to 30 if we utilise the extra board in the bar.
