Rochester’s Teal Hocking has made a bright start to life with the Bendigo Strikers in the Victorian Netball League.
Having starred for the City West Falcons over the previous two seasons, claiming an under-19 premiership in 2022 and earning division one Team of the Year honours last year, Hocking crossed to the Strikers for their inaugural VNL season.
In the Bendigo side’s season opener against the Wilson Storage Southern Saints on March 6, Hocking was enormous, shooting 16 goals at 76.19 per cent to top score for the Strikers, although her side ultimately fell 41 to 54.
Having had the bye in round two, Hocking took to the court in round three to face her old VNL side in the City West Falcons, and put together another strong performance.
The goal attack made 25 of 30 attempts, converting at 83.33 per cent, to again top score for the Strikers, although it wasn’t enough to overcome the Falcons, who proved far too strong in the 70-52 win.
Round four will see Hocking and the Strikers take on the North East Blaze on Wednesday night at the State Netball Centre, with the Blaze currently sitting third with two wins from two games.
