Project manager Cath Elms said students are presented on stage and introduced publicly as part of the program.
“They’re presented with their official beacon badges and this year we included a jacket for the leaders,” she said.
“It’s their first opportunity to do some public speaking as well. They were quite nervous about that because it’s daunting but they all did it so well.”
Leaders: Ling Schuller joined her Australian Christian College Echuca students Tilly Metelmann and Zach Dawson at the business breakfast.
Ms Elms said the event was a great way to have students and the community come together.
“We had a great turnout. We had about 100 guests in the end,” she said.
“We had a few new supporters attend. Anyone who supports us through the journey, we like to invite along to the Beacon Business Breakfast to see what we’re all about.

“(The students) were very enthusiastic, and they were very welcoming of everybody, and they actually did a really good job of mingling around the room.”
The terrific behaviour of the students was something that Ms Elms was incredibly proud of.
“It was commented back to me a few times that people would be standing there, and one of the leaders would come up and introduce themselves and have a little chat,” she said.
“It’s what we encourage them to do, but when they’re quite young, they’re often not used to doing that. So seeing them embracing that and having a go was fantastic.”
