The 2019 flag skipper Tom Sheldon is linking up with cousin Sam at Moama Football Netball Club, after 99 games and two flags with the GVL powerhouse.
The club confirmed Sheldon’s inclusion through social media on Tuesday, November 2.
Sheldon brings a glittering resume to the Pies, who are shaping as a big mover in the MFL hierarchy next season.
He joined Kyabram in 2013 following a stint with Echuca, a move that yielded a premiership and a Wilf Cox medal in his first year.
A premiership player with Nathalia in 2012, his exploits as a super-boot saw him play two seasons with college football side North Carolina as a punter.
The former Bendigo Pioneer also has two representative stints for the Victorian Country Football League under the belt.
Sheldon’s move to the Murray League makes it two Bombers stalwarts to cross over to the Pies this off-season after four-time premiership midfielder Axel Childs signed in September.
Adding to Moama’s list strength is the recommitment of runner-up best-and-fairest Jack Russell.
Returning Kyabram coach Paul Newman previously said he was unsure if Sheldon and his brother Jack would be tempted into a move to join Sam at Moama, confident in his troops should they play next season without the Sheldons and Childs.
“We don’t think we have to recruit heavily. We have still got a lot of local talent to work with,” Newman said.
Tongala meanwhile has put the finishing touches to its 2022 squad, with star Northern Territory midfielder Cameron Ilett headlining the recommitments.
