The Edward River Council and Murray River Council’s International Women’s Day event were a huge success with a large number of people attending the events on Friday.

Attendees had a chance to enjoy a delicious meal and hear from 'First Time Farmer' Kaitie Nash, who shared her challenging journey of relocating from the city to her husband’s family farm.
Edward River Council and Murray River Council both held events on Friday, March 7 - one day ahead of the official celebration.
Mrs Nash appeared as a guest speaker at Murray River Council’s ‘Long Lunch’ in Barham, before attending the Women's Day Dinner in Deniliquin the same night.
A ticketed dinner was hosted at the Deniliquin Town Hall, the event celebrated women's achievements, resilience, and the many barriers that women have broken while the lunch was held at Riverside Park, Barham, with catering by Koondrook’s Long Paddock Food Store.
The event at the Deniliquin Town Hall was popular with around 180 attendees on Friday night.
Guests will receive a welcome drink on arrival, with dinner and dessert provided.
Soft drinks were included in the ticket price, and a bar was open for other purchases.
Mrs Nash was the guest speaker at both events who, through her website ‘First Time Farmer’, aims to inspire individuals as they embark on their own journey in the country.
She speaks about the importance of monitoring mental health, mentorship and a sense of belonging to ensure a fulfilling rural lifestyle.
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the achievements and impacts of women.
The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
