The threat of rain and thunderstorms wasn’t enough to dampen the enthusiasm of motorcyclists from around Victoria as Echuca hosted its second Anointing of the Boneshakers event on Sunday, March 16.

Thankfully, the rain stayed away long enough for the formalities to begin on schedule.
Two-wheelers and three-wheelers assembled at Christ Church Anglican Church to celebrate the gift of motorcycling and to remember their fallen comrades.
Among the clubs represented were God’s Squad and the Christian Motorcyclists Association, who assisted local club the Northern Victoria Spyder Riders to provide traffic control and guide visitors around the impressive array of machinery on show.
Can-Am Spyders, which are three-wheeled motorcycles, were on display on the day.

“It’s been a great day despite the threat of rain,” Northern Victoria Spyder Riders member Ian Carruthers said.
Attendees enjoyed morning tea, compliments of The Royal Hotel, along with live music from Paul Batchelor’s band, Page Gallimore, Jodi Kelvie and Geoff Nicholson.
Helmets were laid on the grass as a mark of respect, while performers serenaded the crowd.

Barista-made coffee from Mum and Me, who made the trek from Rochester, kept everyone adequately caffeinated.
Christ Church Senior Minister Reverend Phil Zamagias gave a talk entitled ‘God: The original Boneshaker,’ based on the Bible story in Ezekiel 37 where God breathed life into dry bones.
Afterwards, Reverend Theo van der Nest assisted as riders filed past to receive a blessing as they departed.

Before leaving, many of the riders and parishioners from Christ Church made their way to The Royal Hotel for lunch.
The stories flew thick and fast as riders shared their love of hitting the open road with the wind in their visors.

By all accounts, Boneshakers will be a regular entry on the calendar for Echuca.
Plans are already under way for next year’s event, so keep an eye on social media for details.
