With about 30 volunteers supporting Edward River Library, the Peppin Heritage Centre’s gallery and visitor services, and a range of community events - including the much-loved Christmas Party and the Deni Ute Muster visitor stall - ERC’s volunteer program is a cornerstone of community engagement.
Each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and experiences, enriching the services provided by council and crating welcoming, vibrant spaces for locals and visitors alike.
Whether it’s sharing local knowledge with tourists or helping library patrons connect with resources, the volunteers make a meaningful difference every day.
To express its gratitude, ERC will host a special morning tea at the library on Friday, May 23 to thank volunteers for their invaluable hours of service.
Being an ERC volunteer is more than just giving back - it’s about growing, connecting, and discovering.
Council’s evolving volunteer program offers:
• Ongoing training and learning opportunities to support personal and professional development.
• An annual end-of-year lunch to celebrate achievements and foster camaraderie.
• Two familiarisation trips per year for Peppin volunteers, ensuring they stay up to date with the latest regional experiences to better inform and inspire visitors.
• A vibrant, welcoming environment at the library, where volunteers can connect with the community and be part of a happy, inclusive space.
New volunteers are always welcome.
