Echuca’s A-grade netballers joined the senior footballers pre-game to acknowledge Say No to Violence Round.
Belinda Lees’ unit hosted the Cats at Victoria Park and were competitive in the first quarter, piling on 15 goals to start the day.
However, it wasn’t enough to enter the first break with a lead, trailing Mooroopna by a couple of goals.
Echuca’s deficit inched out to four goals when the Cats added 13 goals in the second period to the Murray Bombers’ 11 in a quieter stretch in the lead up to half-time.
Mooroopna’s lead only continued to grow after the major break, with the side getting back to top form, goaling 17 times.
Meanwhile, Echuca had to settle for another 11-goal effort as the Cats’ defence held true, the deficit now nine with a quarter to play.
Consistency was key for the visitor, as Mooroopna found the net 17 times again down the stretch.
The Murray Bombers marginally improved on attack in the final frame, adding 13 goals, but it wasn’t enough to cover the distance made by the Cats over the course of the game.
The final score was Echuca 47 to Mooroopna 64.
Young gun Rose Byrne continues to impress for Echuca, goaling on 25 occasions throughout her three quarters played.
The Murray Bombers will hit the road again in round 10 as they travel to Deakin Reserve in an attempt to get back on the winners’ list against Shepparton United.
