Much like the senior football, the Cats and Hawks had a tight tussle in the A-grade netball, with Huntly claiming a narrow victory at Strauch Reserve.
Huntly led the way at every major interval, but LBU managed to stay well within striking distance of snatching the victory down the stretch.
The Cats were three goals behind the Hawks at three-quarter time, before adding 12 goals to the tally to finish on 55.
Meanwhile, the Hawks did one better, goaling 13 times to stave off LBU’s efforts to win by four goals.
The final score was 59-55.
The match marked the closest the Cats have come to winning a game this season and remain at the bottom of the ladder.
LBU has an uphill battle ahead in round 11, attempting to conquer Mt Pleasant and claim its first win of the season.
L-G v White Hills
Looking for its third win of the season, Leitchville-Gunbower battled it out with White Hills at Gunbower Recreation Reserve.
The first quarter was a close battle as the Demons could only create a one-goal separation as the Bombers kept pace.
Following a nine-goal gap created by White Hills in the second period, L-G couldn’t find a way to close any more space, with the deficit staying largely the same for the remainder of the contest.
The final score was 58-48.
While the 10-goal defeat was not what the Bombers would’ve wanted, it will serve as encouragement that L-G can contend with the best the league has to offer.
The Bombers will face top-four side Huntly in round 11 at Strauch Reserve.
