The men’s A-grade side recorded its first win of the season, getting past Shepparton Youth Club 3-1 in its most impressive outing of the season.
Thomas Morphett, Thomas Kerr and Tayden Monigatti each struck for the victorious River Rats.
SYC’s goal came courtesy of Callum Bailey.
The result was a big turnaround from the last time the sides met, when SYC earned the win 6-1.
Echuca-Moama remains at the bottom of the ladder, but now trails SYC by only one game.
In B-grade, the River Rats battled Mooroopna, but neither side was able to break through the opposing defence and the game finished deadlocked at nil-all.
In the women’s league, top of the table EMHC Green had a week off as opponents Euroa forfeited their scheduled fixture.
Meanwhile, EMHC White had a tough outing against SYC, going down 4-1.
Hannah Durrant was responsible for the River Rats’ lone strike, with Hunnardeep Sandhu slotting two for SYC, and Kim Starkey and Taylor Irwin supporting with one each.
EMHC White is in fourth place on the table, trailing Strikers in third by a point.
Round eight fixtures this Saturday will see the River Rats A-grade men take on Strikers at Echuca College, while B-grade will be in Shepparton for a face-off with SYC.
The Women’s Green side will also take on SYC in Shepparton.
