Echuca has found its way back onto the Goulburn Valley League netball winners’ list in round 12 with a 24-goal victory over arch rival Rochester at Victoria Park.

The match, which promised to be a friendly yet competitive contest, delivered from the first centre pass, with the host nailing 16 goals in the opening stanza and taking a seven-goal advantage at the first break.
The Murray Bombers managed to extend their lead to double figures in the second period, while the Tigers showed improvement in attack.

With the difference 10 at the major break, the game was still up for grabs.
Echuca did well to continue carving out small improvements on its lead against Rochy, who wasn’t able to outscore the host.

With the disparity at 12 with the final frame looming, could the Tigers mount a big final push to get over the top? Or was this destined to be the Murray Bombers’ day?
An attacking avalanche down the stretch proved the latter true, as Echuca found the net on 20 occasions in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Rochy had its least productive period in goal, adding eight to its score.
Echuca was able to cruise to a solid 63-39 victory to keep itself within striking distance of finals for another week.

Whether this success lasts into round 13 is another question, as the Murray Bombers have a date with the table-topping flag favourite Euroa at home this weekend.
