After sneaking half a game ahead of Rochester last weekend, Echuca fell back to third, defeated by Shepparton Bears 14.13 (97) to 11.12 (78) in a 2024 grand final rematch.
The game underwent a late shift to Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
The Bears also picked up the win in A-grade, staying unbeaten for the year.
In the Murray League, the A-grade fixture at Moama Recreation Reserve saw Tongala make another big move up the table, edging the Mowers 46-44 to claim a fifth straight and surge into the top four.
Moama got the win in the senior football, maintaining its hold on the all-important second spot.
In the Picola and District League, Picola United had a spotty afternoon in front of goal, kicking 6.15 (51) but did just enough to snap a four-game slide when it defeated Katunga by three points.
Mathoura remained winless for the season, while neither the Cutters nor Blues were able to turn things around in A-grade.
In the Heathcote District League, Lockington-Bamawm United is making a late play for the last finals place in the seniors, pulling to within a game of Leitchville-Gunbower with two rounds to play.
The Cats were well handled in A-grade as Elmore scored a confident 14-goal win.
