The Timbercutters and Blues faced off in an elimination final in the 15-and-under netball.
The two teams had battled eight days earlier in the last round of the regular season, where Picola United prevailed 33-29.
However, it was the Cutters, who had finished one game higher on the ladder, who found their form when it counted, turning the tables on the Blues and eliminating them from the competition 33-31.
Mathoura now awaits the loser of the 2v3 qualifying final between Tocumwal and Tungamah, to be held this Sunday at Katunga Recreation Reserve.
The Cutters will play that semi-final on August 31 at Tungamah Recreation Reserve.
Picola United was also in action in 13-and-under, but the Blues were forced to bow out against Rennie 22-17.
The Blues were the higher finisher on the ladder by half a game, but couldn’t put it together on the day.
A pair of Picola United squads had a week off at the weekend by virtue of a top-four finish and will compete in qualifying finals this weekend.
The Blues finished fourth in C-reserve netball and must take on minor premier Deniliquin Rovers at Katandra Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The winner heads straight to a preliminary final, while the loser will battle Katunga at Monash Park at Jerilderie on August 30.
Picola will be the heavy favourite to claim the under-14 football crown, finishing the regular season a perfect 16-0, conceding only 91 points and boasting a percentage of 1934.07.
The Blues face off with fourth-ranked Dookie United at Katandra on Saturday for a preliminary final spot, the loser to take on the Rovers at Jerilderie on August 30.
