The rural tree scheme encourages biodiversity and the preservation and enhancement of the shire’s natural environment.
The scheme is open until December 1, but it may close earlier if it becomes fully subscribed.
The scheme contains about 40 native plant species that are well suited to the Campaspe climate and soil types.
To be eligible for the scheme you must own property in the farm, rural living or rural conservation zones, and the scheme is capped at a maximum of three rate notices per owner.
You can complete an online order form or download an order form from council’s website, pick one up at one of council’s customer service centres or have one posted to you.
Have your say on draft asset plans
Residents are encouraged to have their say on the draft versions of five documents that will guide Gannawarra Shire Council when making key decisions.
The draft Gannawarra Shire Council Asset Plan 2025-2035 and its related sub-plans for buildings, open space, stormwater and transport assets outline council’s long-term infrastructure planning, ensuring this aligns with community expectations.
The plan has assisted council in maintaining more than $426 million in assets, such as roads, bridges, footpaths, buildings, drainage, parks and recreational facilities. The updated version of this document will ensure this continues.
Copies of the five documents are available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/yoursay and at council’s Customer Service Centres.
Residents can have their say on the documents up to 5pm on Thursday, September 18.

2/29th Battalion Association service
The 2/29th Australian Infantry Battalion was formed in Victoria in 1940 and served in Singapore and Malaya in World War II.
The men all became prisoners of war of the Japanese from February 1942 until August 1945.
Many of the men came from country Victoria, including Bendigo and surrounding areas.
Later this year, the 2/29th Battalion Association will be holding a commemorative service to honour the local men who formed this and other battalions.
The service is on October 5, at 11am, at the Sandakan memorial, 214 McIvor Hwy, Strathdale.
Everyone is welcome to attend the service.
If you are a descendant of one of the men, the association would like to hear from you.
