As of 2.30pm on Friday, August 29, Powercor’s website showed areas in the west, Bamawm Extension, Lockington, Wharparilla and Torrumbarry were experiencing the outages.
The outages came after heavy rain, wind and scattered storms swept through the region in the early afternoon.
According to VicEmergency, a tree was downed at Ogilvie Ave and Hovell St at 2.30pm, with a request for assistance sent.
Earlier, another tree was downed at Warren and Redmond Sts in Echuca, but was marked as safe as of 2.10pm.
Transport Victoria has issued a reminder to drivers to slow down and take extra care in bad weather, with the BOM forecasting severe weather.
If fallen power lines are encountered, people should stay well clear and immediately call 000.
Judging speed and distance becomes more difficult in bad weather, and drivers should keep a safe distance from the car in front — around a four-second gap.
If rain becomes too heavy for wipers to cope, drivers should pull over safely and wait for rain to pass, and never walk or drive through flood water.
Low-beam headlights increase visibility, and any loads must be secure.
As of 3.37pm on Friday, August 29, only 7 Powercor customers remained without electricity.
