The store is the first to take home two awards from one ceremony, which recognised the team’s exceptional customer service and involvement in town.
Business owner Michael Morona said he was particularly excited about the Community and Engagement Award.
“That gets awarded to one Telstra store or Telstra partner store in the nation,” he said.
“We feel really proud and privileged to be able to service the community to a point where we get recognised by Telstra.”
The accolades were announced during a recent four-day conference in Brisbane, and Mr Morona accepted the awards with a big grin on stage in front of a large crowd .
He said the store had chosen to engage with people and groups in town by providing donations and hosting fundraising barbecues, toy drives and elderly technology nights.
Around Christmas last year, the team also set up a stall at Moama market, selling toys and educating those interested in Starlink.
“Every single community event we could, we’ve tried to be involved,” Mr Morona said.
“We’ve worked relatively hard with the community, and it’s really satisfying to see people walk in and get excited for our next event.”
Having grown up in the area, Mr Morona said he was all too happy to give back to those living in Echuca-Moama.
With previous experience working for Telstra, he took over the store’s ownership last year, bringing his expertise with him.
“I’m a local, and it’s nice to see your neighbours doing well,” he said.
“And it’s so nice to be able to bring a skill set that I know to the community.”
Switched On Electronics’ next event will include face painting, balloon animal extraordinaire Balloonatic Bruce and a barbecue to raise money for Boys to the Bush.
The fun begins at the store at 9.30am and runs until 2pm on Friday, September 19, with more details available by visiting facebook.com/switchedonelectronicsechuca
