Retirements have significantly reduced the number and experience of officials available for the coming season.
President Graham Laird and secretary Matt Whitty have expressed serious concern over the shortage, highlighting the critical need for more volunteers to step forward and help fill the gap left by departing umpires.
“The retirement of many experienced umpires has had a massive impact on our numbers and overall expertise,” Laird said.
“We are in desperate need of new umpires to ensure our matches can run smoothly and fairly.”
Training will be provided to all new recruits, making it an excellent opportunity for cricket enthusiasts to stay involved in the game they love while contributing to the local cricket community.
“Umpiring is a rewarding way to remain connected to cricket, and with proper training and support, anyone can take on the role successfully,” Whitty said.

The association hopes to attract new officials quickly to maintain the quality and integrity of the competition throughout the season.
